Matt was admitted as a Solicitor in 2001 and established himself in Hereford by successfully defending his first ten trials. He later qualified as a Duty Solicitor and was the head of the criminal department at his former firm before joining CRL as a partner in 2006.

He continues to devote himself to Legal Aid and private client criminal defence work and maintains a position on the Duty Solicitor scheme. Matt is experienced in all types of criminal defence work and continues to maintain an excellent success rate in his trials.

In addition to his criminal work Matt also represents clients before the Family Court. He is a dedicated Family Solicitor specialising in representing parents of children who face care proceedings.

This type of work requires the utmost compassion and tact, qualities which Matt prides himself with.

Matt is extremely popular with his clients and has built up a formidable client base both in Criminal and Family work.

Matt is Head of Head of Family Law.

Mark is a Barrister and Partner at Coulson Read Lewis.

Mark is Head of Our Criminal Defence Team.

Having previously been a Solicitor, admitted in 2001 and obtaining his Higher Rights of Audience (Criminal) accreditation in 2009, Mark transferred to the Bar in 2015, being called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn.

Mark has undertaken criminal work throughout his career, he was previously the head of the Criminal Department at a busy solicitors practice in Shropshire.

He has been led in serious cases such as a £16,000,000 fraud, Murder cases, Attempted Murder and serious drugs offences.

He has conducted Jury trials in respect of serious cases such as Attempted Murder, Assisting an Offender (murder) and Conspiracy to Supply Class A Drugs.

Mark has represented clients before the Crown Court in respect of serious sexual offences, offences of violence and serious drug offences as well as high value fraud matters.

Mark is a fearless advocate and astute lawyer who prides himself on the results he obtains for client’s and the manner in which he deals with them. He is approachable and clear in his advice.

Mark is Head of the Criminal Department.

Mark is the firm’s Managing Partner.

Jade was admitted as a Solicitor in 2015. She is a specialist Family Solicitor having been accredited by the Law Society in Family Law.

She represents clients in relation to all aspects of Family Law.

Jade is a confident and driven solicitor, who is regularly recommended to represent clients. Jade ensures that her clients interests are always the focus of the case.

Jade’s clients have described her as empathetic astute, thorough, organised and dynamic.

Jade will always try to ensure matters are dealt with as amicably as possible without the need for Court intervention. In the event that Court proceedings are inevitable then Jade represents clients in all aspects of Family Law in Court.

In addition to her Family Law work Jade is also an experienced Conveyancing Solicitor. She very reguarly takes instructions from returning clients looking to buy and sell residential properties.

Jade is Head of the Divorce & Family Law and Conveyancing Departments.

Clare is the Practice Manager at Coulson Read Lewis, she is responsible for the day to day administration and running of the practice.

Clare has been working in the legal profession for over 25 years.

In addition to being Practice Manager Clare is also a member of the Criminal Department as a fee-earner.

She is an experienced Crown Court Litigator having dealt with serious and complex cases including serious Fraud, Violence, Drug Offences and Sexual Offences including Rape. She has also litigated Murder cases.

Clare is also an Accredited Police Station Representative, she represents clients in Police Station Interviews and also interviews under caution with the Department of Work & Pensions. Clare has represented individuals at the Police Station for all classes of offences including murder.

Clare is a voracious litigator, her dedication to the preparation of serious cases is proven in the results our clients have consistently achieved before the Crown Court.

Her straight forward, no nonsense approach to the law is welcomed by clients and professionals alike.

Clare has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Criminal Law.

Charlotte is a Criminal Defence Solicitor with the firm having completed her training contract in September 2025.

Charlotte works in the criminal department.

Charlotte is also qualified as an Accredited Police Station Representative, enabling her to represent clients at the Police Station when they are interviewed under caution.

Charlotte is a highly motivated Solicitor with who places her clients at the centre of her work. She is an effective advocate in the Magistrates Court demonstrating her commitment to her client’s cases.

Charlotte is an accomplished singer and actress.

She has a clear flair for Legal Practice with a bright future ahead of her.

Lawson is a Criminal Defence Solicitor who joined the firm in December 2023 and completed his Training Contract with us.

He is a tenacious and effective advocate. He has achieved a number of very good outcomes for his clients in the Magistrates Court. Lawson also litigates Crown Court cases, he is a thorough lawyer who is committed to achieving the very best outcomes for his clients.

Lawson is an accomplished rugby player.

Hannah is a Family Solicitor who joined the firm in September 2025 upon completion of her Training Contract where she gained invaluable experience in both public and private law children matters including child protection and child arrangements.

Known for her empathetic and down-to-earth manner, Hannah prides herself on making sure clients feel supported, understood, and able to engage throughout the legal process.

Hannah is working closely alongside Jade Latham to assist in all aspects of Family Law.
